Jumpstart Media Project
.
St. Augustine's Episcopal Church applied for and was awarded a grant funded by the Department of Justice to educate at risk youth in September 2009. This grant enabled Michael Mack of St. Augustine's to create JumpStart Media (JSP) which educated at risk youth - 15 to 18 years old - in using media arts a life tools for change. "JSP helps them assess their challenges in a creative and supportive environment, turn their experiences into stories that require self-reflection, and make videos based on those real-life dramas that explore how different choices can create new possibilities for the future." Participant spent 12 weeks of their lives creating a film that was shown at the Amnesty International festival here in Washington in 2010.
